Inventory Business Analyst

Description: 

The Inventory Business Analyst (BA) will play a critical role in supporting inventory management and operational excellence within a public company environment. This position is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and maintaining the integrity of business and technical requirements throughout project lifecycles. The Inventory BA will collaborate with key stakeholders to optimize inventory controls, ensure data accuracy, and drive standardization of processes across technology-enabled business transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate demonstrates technical acumen, strong analytical skills, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. The BA will document current processes, identify areas for improvement, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business, reporting, and data requirements, ensuring alignment with inventory management objectives. Conduct in-depth analysis of inventory workflows, systems, and processes to identify optimization opportunities. Develop functional and non-functional requirements documentation, driving projects through the full approval process. Represent requirements using analysis models, wireframes, scenarios, or prototypes as appropriate. Develop and maintain data-driven tools and dashboards to monitor inventory trends and performance metrics. Oversee requirements traceability across project lifecycles, ensuring consistency and alignment with business goals. Analyze and document the impact of procedural and policy changes on inventory management practices, ensuring future state alignment with company goals. Develop a comprehensive understanding of IT solutions and tools supporting inventory processes. Collaborate with IT, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to test, verify, and validate business solutions. Partner with IT Quality Assurance teams to define and execute testing strategies, ensuring system performance aligns with business requirements. Perform data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights that drive inventory optimization and process improvement. Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) and other public company standards, ensuring robust controls over inventory processes.

Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, including expertise in requirements development, report writing, and data analysis. Strong experience supporting third-party solutions and managing integrations with inventory systems. Proven ability to analyze complex business needs, model functions, and translate them into actionable requirements. Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong collaboration, relationship-building, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead discussions with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams) and inventory management tools. Proficiency in BI Tools (Qlik, Power BI, MicroStrategy, etc) Familiarity with ERP and WMS systems Familiarity with retail industry trends and best practices in inventory management and controls. Demonstrated ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment while maintaining high attention to detail. Experience in public company environments and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., SOX) is strongly preferred.
