Inventory Control Analyst

Secaucus, New JerseyJob Summary:The Inventory Control Analyst will support the inventory control functions within the Finance Department. The Inventory Control Analyst will be responsible for the accuracy of inventory activity and levels, maintaining records, identifying and resolving inventory issues and variances, and providing solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in inventory systems and financial statements. The Analyst will also assist with month-end closes, SOX testing, audits, cycle counts and physical inventories. This position will work closely with other departments as needed to ensure accurate and timely transmission of data in order to maintain accurate systems, prepare financial statements and support other reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:

Key Accountabilities:

Conduct monthly closing of the inventory accountsMonitor and assist with daily cycle count activitiesPerform account reconciliations including perpetual inventory, Duty, Freight and accrued receiptsAnalyze Average Unit Cost by Category and DepartmentResearch to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies in processes or implement new systemsReconcile cycle counts and annual physical inventories for retail stores and Distribution Center inventoryAnalyze on hand inventory to assist in supporting the business to identify and manage distressed inventoryIdentify, research, and resolve inventory variance between the physical quantities and those in the systemReport any inventory variances over the predetermined threshold to loss prevention to further researchMonitor records to ensure all valid POs placed by the company are received at the correct location and correct in the system; research open POs to resolve as necessaryComplete special projects and ad hoc requestsMaintain daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and analysis models that track inventory and average costsPerform additional duties or responsibilities as needed

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field3-5 years of experience in inventory control or related areasRetail experience a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent skills in ExcelEffective verbal and written communication skillsMust be highly organized with strong attention to detailStrong analytical and problem solving skillsStrong multi-tasking ability with disposition that remains calm and unaffected by changing directionFlexibility during month-end and year-end inventory process which is fast-paced and extremely time-sensitiveFamiliarity with general ledger and stockledger/merchandising systems a plusFamiliarity with SAP and Cognos a plus
