Inventory Control & Receiving Specialist
Position: Inventory Control & Receiving Specialist Department: Material Control Reports to: Supply Chain Manager Location: 4433 South Drive, Houston, TX 77053 (Onsite) JOB SUMMARY The Inventory Control & Receiving Specialist is responsible for the verification, management, and maintenance of inventory and incoming shipments. The duties of this role include receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise and/or material. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Deliver or route items/materials to departments using hand truck or sorting bins. + Maintain the organization and cleanliness of Warehouse, External Warehouse, and overstock floor. + Offload shipments from external vendors whether parcel or LTL shipment using forklift and move the material to its designated location after verification. + Remove all paperwork including packing list from the shipment at time of delivery. + Tag product with the correct color cone to assist in timely movement of materials from dock to stock. + Properly tag and identify all parts related to jobs whether internal or external. + Update bin locations as new parts are received. + Perform receipt inspection on received parts and materials as they are delivered. + Confirm receipt qty, integrity of parts, compare with invoice/order to verify accuracy and notate any damage. + Confer with Supervisor to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications. + Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for delivery of materials. + Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shippers to rectify damage and shortages. + Compare identifying information and counts; weigh or measure items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. + Remove all paperwork including packing list from the shipment at time of delivery. + Obtain scheduled container receipt dates with purchasing to plan for required warehouse storage space. + Ensure all documentation related to receiving, and inventory are placed in the correct location so as not to delay process. + Take inventory and cycle count of the parts and report shortages to the purchasing agent or inventory manager. + Work with Bill of Materials coordinator to ensure that the correct parts are pulled for the jobs per the BOM and drawings. + Work with Inventory Coordinator to prep warehouse for physical inventory. + Perform stock checks when requested by various sources. + Issue parts to production as needed and document issuances accordingly. + Document parts issued to production were more than what is called out on the BOM. + Work with Supply Chain Manager to report any material shortages that are present in advance of the job. + Assist with moving assembled parts to their appropriate bin locations. + Properly tag and identify all major components required for job and update the information on the production schedule. + Take inventory and cycle count of the parts and report shortages to the Supervisor. + Ensure proper handling of the inventory for raw material, WIP, and finished goods. + Work with Supervisor to prep warehouse for physical inventory. + Perform stock checks when requested by various sources. + Return excess parts to stock that are not used on job. + Issue parts to production as needed and document issuances accordingly. + Perform inventory consolidations to ensure the same / like parts are stored together utilizing as little space as possible. + Other duties as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE + High School Diploma, GED, or Technical School Degree + Basic math skills required + 3+ years of experience in a warehouse receiving/inventory role + Forklift experience and certification required + Valid US Driver’s license with clean driving record + Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) + Proficiency in ERP Systems (SAGE, SITELINE) PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels. Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided. Usage may be driven by customer requirements. Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses, hearing protection. Customer site working environments can be extreme in regard to height, confined spaces, ambient temperature, physical requirements and hazards.
