Inventory Control Specialist

The Royal Group, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners, is currently seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to support our Cicero, IL facility. The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and reconciling inventory transactions, ensuring accurate costing, and maintaining compliance with company policies and industry standards. This role supports corrugator, fulfillment, and box plant operations by providing timely and accurate inventory reporting, variance analysis, and cost control measures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION: 

Monitor daily inventory movements for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods. Perform monthly and quarterly inventory reconciliations between physical counts and ERP system records. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory balances. Maintain accurate standard costs for corrugator, display and converting operations. Analyze material usage variances, scrap, and yield performance. Prepare cost roll-ups and update bills of materials (BOM) as needed. Generate inventory valuation reports and provide insights into plant management. Track and report key metrics such as inventory turns, obsolescence, and shrinkage. Supports budgeting and forecasting processes related to inventory and material costs. Ensure adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance for inventory transactions. Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations for inventory-related accounts. Work closely with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to maintain accurate inventory records. Partner with finance and operations to improve inventory accuracy and reduce waste.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. 2+ years of experience in cost accounting or inventory accounting, preferably in manufacturing. Strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar). Proficiency in Excel and data analysis. Understanding of corrugated packaging processes and materials is a plus.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

College degree in accounting or similar. 3+ experience in the Corrugated Industry.
