Inventory Control Specialist III

POSITION SUMMARY:
    
This position is responsible for the receipt, movement, storage and dispositioning of company inventoried materials, instruments and non-stock supplies, performing and maintaining cycle counting activities, and supporting manufacturing and research and development departments with inventory and warehousing requirements.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Responsible for processing and fulfilling internal material requests.
•    Monitors and performs material dispositioning activities, including but not limited to scrap, transfers , and other inventory transactions
•    Reviews and monitors laboratory supplies and floor stock inventory levels; replenishes as required.
•    Interacts with purchasing, planning, and manufacturing groups to ensure appropriate inventory levels are met and appropriate space requirements are available.
•    Monitors incoming material processing, delivery, and put-away activities and ensures accuracy and timely completion.
•    Executes cycle counting activities, Investigates material discrepancies, develops and presents reconciliation solutions.
•    Operates material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks, etc.) to fulfill inventory requests from manufacturing and quality control.
•    Issuing and transacting inventory to work orders, projects, and sales orders using ERP system
•    Drives company vehicles, or assists in the delivery of materials to all corporate campus locations.
•    Ensures inventory activities are performed according to documented standard operating procedures.
•    Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements

•    Manage, track and communicate inventory control, data analysis and status presentation
o    Compose inventory summary reports
o    Procurement of reagents (internal/external) and equipment
o    Critically review records
o    Present data and results to colleagues and managers
•    Provide day to day guidance to team members:
o    Coordinate daily routine work for Incentory Control Specialists and ensure that duties are clearly defined and understood
o    Serve as point of contact for inventory control team within the lab
o    Lead the training of inventory control specialists to ensure they are fully proficient in inventory control processes
•    Initiate and evaluate process improvements for inventory control
•    Complete and revise appropriate documentation to support process and production procedures including data capture, forms, logbooks and inventory batch records

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

•    High school diploma required
o    Associate’s level degree or equivalent experience preferred
•    Minimum 5 years of experience with Inventory control and warehousing activities in a manufacturing and/or Life Science environment.
Valid driver’s license and company insurable driving record required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


•    Demonstrated proficiency in the use of material handling equipment, including, but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks
•    Knowledge of ERP systems and MRP systems preferred
•    Ability to operate/execute basic computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Office Suite
o    The quantitative background to advance this knowledge on the job is expected  
•    Able to read and comprehend and inventory data and reports
•    Demonstrated aptitude for learning and adhering to standard inventory/material handling techniques and safety precautions as presented
•    Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
o    Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of inventory/shipping data
•    Ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding manufacturing environment with changing priorities
•    Ability to lift 50 lbs.
•    Ability to use material handling equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit and stand for long periods. The individual is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. This position requires moving/lifting up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•    This position is performed in a warehouse and manufacturing lab environments
o    Certain tasks will require work to be performed in walk in cold rooms and freezers
