Inventory Equipment Operator

Scope of Responsibility:  This position is responsible for operating a forklift, overhead cranes, and other equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stocking, and counting materials in accordance with production standards.

Essential Duties:

Assists machine operators, welders, and other personnel in loading/unloading, transporting raw, in-process, and finished materials throughout the facility.Uses forklifts and other heavy equipment such as cranes to safely and effectively move various sizes of steel plates and poles.Stages all stock and manufactured steel plate to production. Moves in-process and finished poles to appropriate areas. Abides by all Safety Standards and Policies including the use of all personal protective equipment (PPE).Performs routine safety inspections prior to operating equipment.Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in your area of operation.Contributes to team effort by communicating and working well with others, as well as accomplishing related tasks as needed.Regular and on-time attendance.Work in your shift as scheduled.Must work well with others.Additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience

Experience:  Forklift driving or crane/heavy equipment experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Skills & Abilities:

Must be able to effectively communicate in the English language within all levels of a team environment.Must be able to drive and operate a forklift.Must possess the ability to comply with safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must contribute to safety and quality control standards.Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of the team.Regular and timely attendance is required

 Physical Requirements:

Position requires work in a plant/manufacturing environment. Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe metatarsal boots and hearing protection worn at all times on the production floor in addition to other specific PPE that must be work for specific tasks.Environment may include fluctuations in temperature, dust and noise.Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including heat and cold.Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.Must be able to reach, climb, bend, stoop, sit, stand and grasp. Must be able to stand and walk 100% of the shift.Must have good hand-eye coordination to operate overhead cranes.Must be able to pass commercial driver vision testing requirements.
