Ada County Weed, Pest & Mosquito POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY: Maintains computerized inventory system, adequate inventory of supplies, pesticides, materials, fuel, and equipment, and distributes this inventory as needed; maintains select facility equipment; serves as the fuel depot point-of-contact, as well as department Safety Coordinator, and performs related duties as required. Essential Functions + Maintains a comprehensive computerized inventory of chemicals, fuel, oil, and fixed assets; + Coordinates and maintains informal quotes in preparation for purchasing of stockpiles; + Orders products to replenish stockpiles of pesticides, fuel, and oil; + Tracks and reports stockpile consumption by department; + Maintains, cleans, and arranges repairs and inspections for fuel depot; + Tracks fuel pricing and ensures accurate fuel delivery and billing; + Receives, stores and delivers a wide variety of goods and supplies; + Maintains rinsate water tank system, applies rinsate water to roadsides; + Updates and distributes all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and pesticide labels; + Serves as facility Safety Coordinator, keeps a journal of safety policy infractions, reports significant events to team leads and managers; + Instructs employees and team leads on safety policies within the department; + Coordinates Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification activities such as recycling. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: + Coordinates with Ada County Operations to maintain sound structure, appearance and cleanliness of the facility; + Assists with safety training and education for existing, new and temporary employees; + May perform some of the duties of a Field Technician; + Performs related duties as required. Job Requirements + Must be at least 18 years of age; + Previous inventory or purchasing experience required; + Must be forklift certified, or be able to become forklift certified within a year; + Must have and maintain Idaho Department of Environmental Quality Class A Underground Storage Tank Certification, or be able to acquire certification within a year; + Must have and maintain Idaho Professional Pesticide Applicator License with Agricultural Herbicide endorsement, or be able to acquire within a year; + Knowledge of common business practices with respect to sales, price discounts, deliveries, stocks and shipments of various items purchased; + Knowledge of computerized inventory control systems and fixed asset management; + Knowledge of safety policies and procedures; + Ability to read and understand herbicide SDS sheets and labels and read and understand maps; + Ability work and communicate effectively with the public and/or coworkers. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: + Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho driver’s license with a good driving record in accordance with Ada County policy; + This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Work Environment & Physical Demands + Work is performed onsite at the Ada County Weed, Pest, and Mosquito Abatement facility and in field environments as needed; + Frequently requires a combination of standing and walking; + Frequently requires climbing, bending, crouching and twisting in the performance of duties; + Frequently will be required to move and transport various equipment and supplies; + Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; + The work performed inside may subject the incumbent to drafts, noise, fumes from vehicles, vehicle fluids and pesticides; + Occasionally will be required to be in the field for long periods of time and under various weather conditions; + Occasionally required to move over land to inspect for weeds and pests and must negotiate fences, hazardous or steep terrain with rough, rocky and/or wet surfaces; + Occasionally may be exposed to dogs and/or farm animals, snakes, and biting and stinging insects.
