In this role you will will assess usage patterns and set re-order minimums and quantities to maintain healthy inventory. In partnership with purchasing, you will work with suppliers on expediting and tracking orders. You will also coordinate substitute approvals with clinical and contracting stakeholders, and support operations/receiving for new items and conversion projects. This position manages the inventory, product acquisition, vendor product transitions, fill rates, and database updates that are necessary to operate the centralized distribution center.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates the inventory management functions to ensure that proper quantities of supplies are available from the centralized distribution center for use in all facilities consistent with fill rate commitments to customers. Contacts vendors to coordinate the delivery, pick-up and/or replacement of supplies.
2. Monitors and tracks open purchase orders that are past due and takes the necessary steps to acquire the product in a timely manner through expediting, substitution or other measures.
3. Coordinates product conversions consistent with agreed upon timelines and expectations to ensure smooth transitioning from the old product line to new product line. This includes ensuring the centralized distribution center does not run out of products, as well as preventing negative financial impact to the system.
4. Coordinates the semi-annual inventory, including establishment of the schedule, staffing, and communication guidelines outlining expectations for staff as they relate to inventory, re-counts, validation of variances, and entering inventory adjustments.
5. Coordinates the replenishment process with manufacturers by considering the account ordering cycle, lead time, seasonal variances in demand, market conditions, and the targeted 98% fill rate.
6. Provides product substitution information for products not stocked in the centralized distribution center.
7. Works independently under general supervision. Conducts analyses and makes independent judgments to manage cost and quality outcomes. Position has responsibility for inventory management at the centralized regional distribution center. This requires good internal working relationships with materials management, Clinical Supply Managers, Contract Managers, Purchasing Manager, and Accounts Payable Manager. Positive working relationships with vendors are important to the success of this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires the business skills and knowledge normally evidenced by a Bachelor’s degree in business.
Requires the a level of knowledge and experience acquired over five or more years of materials management experience, with three or more years in inventory management. Must be able to review and interpret contract verbiage. Must possess excellent oral and written and interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to interpret verbal and written information and instructions. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and achieve results in a fast paced environment will multiple projects and deadlines.
Must have a strong knowledge of spreadsheet and database software programs, and the ability to work effectively with common office software.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
