Inventory Management Technician

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

Under general supervision of local pharmacy leadership, the inventory management technician is responsible for utilizing

medication-related inventory systems (automated dispensing cabinets, inventory management, temperature monitoring,

etc.). to regulate and optimize inventory. She/he will ensure efficient operation of drug distribution and inventory processes

associated with all medication-related systems.

1. Utilizes pharmacy technologies to regulate and optimize inventory management: to help control costs, improve

accessibility, manage backorders, prevent inclusion of inappropriate medications (i.e. hazardous, low usage,

expired), etc.

2. Performs optimization and maintenance activities related to pharmacy inventory systems including but not limited

to medication loads/unloads, preventative maintenance, etc.

3. Generates and/or modifies standard reports on utilization, optimization, etc. as assigned.

4. Communicates process changes to pharmacy staff and other departments/sites as needed; facilitates education to

impacted staff/departments/sites when necessary.

5. Provides training, education, and support to pharmacy staff on system usage and best practices.

6. Collaborates with stakeholders of various committees and initiatives as designated in regards to the medication-

related inventory technologies and processes as assigned.

7. Participates in implementation of new pharmacy technologies, including coordinating quotes, orders, shipments,

deliveries, storage and equipment configurations.

8. Maintains a professional image and positive attitude, leads by example, and exhibits excellent customer relations to

patients, visitors, physicians, and other colleagues in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core

Values.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Training:

2-4 years of pharmacy technician experience

Education:

Current SC state certified pharmacy technician license
