The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a collaborative and dedicated Inventory Planner to optimize our Avantor Fluid Handling (AFH) Inventory Planning team. The Planner is responsible for facilitating the transfer of commodity products and specialty components for manufacturing and subcontract operations across the AFH supply chain and operational networks.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Devens, MA facility.
What we’re looking for
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Logistics, Mathematics, or Operations-related concentration is required
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in a Distribution, Supply Chain, Operations, Warehouse industry or equivalent/applicable experience
Demonstrated experience working in an ERP system
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
APICS/CPIM certification
Pivot Table and Vlookup experience
Microsoft Access experience
How you will thrive and create an impact
The Inventory Planner will work closely with the Procurement Team, Planners, and Warehousing to support daily MRP transactions, material transfer orders, inventory management, metric reporting, and other administrative duties.
Supports daily management of inventory including transfers, expired material, expedites, excess and obsolete, confirmations and updates, adjusts delivery dates.
Provides feedback to buyers regarding inventory position.
Runs reporting to populate inventory scorecards and helps facilitate monthly metric reviews.
Utilizes the daily transfer workbench to perform ERP system updates for master data fields in conjunction with AFH master data policy.
Manages Excess and Obsolete process, identifies material for return, disposal or sale.
Represents Inventory Planning team and provides updates for daily site tiered management meetings.
Follows standard workflow established for the role and provides recommendations for improvements.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
Solid written and verbal communication skills, work experience in a matrix environment desirable
Strong analytical skills
Formal problem-solving training highly desirable, i.e. Six Sigma
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
