The Inventory Planner is responsible for managing and optimizing inventory levels to ensure that business operations run smoothly and efficiently.

This role requiresa deep understanding of supply chain management, demand forecasting, and inventory control. The Inventory Planner will work closely with various departments, including procurement, sales, and logistics, to ensure that inventory levels are aligned with business needs and customer demands.strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make data-driven decisions.Key responsibilities include monitoring inventory levels and managing supplier relationships. The Inventory Planner will also be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks related to inventory shortages or excesses.
This role is critical to maintaining the balance between supply and demand, minimizing costs, and maximizing customer satisfaction.

Inventory ManagementMonitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.Analyze inventory turnover and recommend adjustments to reorder points and quantities.Optimize inventory turnover rates to minimize holding costs.Develop and implement inventory control policies and procedures.Manage safety stock levels based on historical data and forecasted demand.Manage Slow Moving Inventory to drive down expired materialsDemand Planning CollaborationWork closely with demand planners to align inventory plans with sales forecasts.Adjust inventory strategies based on changes in customer demand, market trends, or seasonal factors.Supplier CoordinationCollaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.Monitor supplier performance and address any issues affecting inventory availability.Negotiate lead times and minimum order quantities to align with inventory objectives.Performance AnalysisTrack key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory turnover, service levels, and carrying costs.Analyze inventory data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.Prepare regular reports on inventory status and present findings to management.Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve inventory management processes and implement best practices.Support system enhancements and automation initiatives to streamline inventory operations.Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance overall supply chain efficiency.Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in inventory management.Cross-functional CollaborationPartner with production planning, procurement, logistics, and sales teams to align inventory strategies with business objectives.Work closely with Materials Managers and Planers to ensure material availability for production plansCompliance and Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.Assess and mitigate risks related to inventory obsolescence, excess stock, or supply chain disruptions.Develop contingency plans for inventory-related disruptions.ToolsImplement and maintain inventory management software and tools.CoachingTrain and mentor junior staff and other business functions on inventory management practicesBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Certification in supply chain or inventory management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) is a plus.3-5 years of experience in inventory planning, supply chain management, or a related field.Experience in a B2B manufacturing environment and industry.Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
