The Inventory Specialist establishes and executes the strategic direction while streamlining and optimizing, inventory accuracy through cycle counts, annual inventory, and rework transactions. This role works closely with planning, purchasing, and production to ensure the accurate flow of materials from receiving, to production, and to the customer.
This position is both strategic and tactical. Understanding and building a strong process flow for work orders is critical. Tasks such as identifying, reviewing, and investigating variances on work orders are included in this role. Other work examples include managing material flow and troubleshooting various activities like receiving, staging, cycle counting, etc.
This role serves as an indirect resource for the overall production department as it relates to inventory that will work closely with employees and leadership team and may from time to time have to enforce authority to ensure that all is accountable.
Essential Functions:
Maintain accurate Raw, WIP and FG inventory records and support the inventory level’s objective defined by the business. Responsible for material issues and receipts for production and rework in the QAD system. Verifies inventory accuracy before during and at the completion of production runs. Helps lead the plant physical inventory process. Hosts a monthly report out to management on inventory adjustments, process controls and opportunities for improvement, providing insights and recommendations for enhancing inventory management practices. Oversees the writing and implementation of procedures supporting ICRF, reviews systems and evaluates inventory movements to ensure accurate and timely reporting within the facilities inventory system (QAD). This includes maintaining MRP system information to optimize service, production efficiency and inventory turns. Ensures that processes and procedures are followed regarding safety stock and strategic customer inventory on an annual basis, maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet customer demands. Responsible for defining and leading robust inventory reduction strategies, including analyzing current inventory levels, identifying excess and obsolete inventory, and implementing processes to reduce inventory holding costs while maintaining service levels. Support the plant safety initiatives by leading an aspect of the safety program and driving plant-wide understanding and compliance of the subject. Implement and create a culture of 5S, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient work environment that supports productivity and safety. Participates / leads continuous improvement projects and activities as assigned.
