Investigator I, Claims

Job Summary:

Investigate, gather needed information, communicate and resolve cargo claims as needed to meet the expectations set forth by Estes claims process Review claim files as assigned and adjudicate liability according to the data Amend and adjust claims according to results of investigation inclusive of factual data and/or terms and conditions set forth in agreements made. Negotiate up to $500 claim payment settlements with customers. Review higher level claims with Investigator or management to determine disposition and resolution. correspond in writing with claimants regarding denials, additional information requests, amendments and resolution Gather, and confirm carrier rebuttal information with customer and review with Investigator or management as appropriate Audit reports and discrepancies in the claim file Assists internal and external customers with claims related inquiries Regular attendance is required. Qualifications:

High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background Some cargo claims examiner or terminal OS&D experience and prefer: 1-2 years of general transportation experience and/or shipping and receiving Computer literate in AS400, Microsoft Office Strong attention to detail orientation with good analytical skills Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated customer service skills Effective organizational and prioritization skills for managing multiple tasks Solid negotiation skills Ability to work cross functionally with individuals and teams from different areas Ability to make independent decisions and work with little supervision Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct Must be able to interact well with others Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check Must be authorized to work in the United States
