Investment Operations Analyst - Manager Onboarding

Summary

This role’s key responsibilities will be to complete the necessary tasks to onboard new managers and underlying funds to our trading platform, while supporting the account opening process for these funds to be included in our target portfolios for existing clients. The Investment Operations Analyst will coordinate legal negotiations with internal and external legal counsel, legal and investment review activities to assist in the review, completion, and execution of contracts/fund documents, and maintain client and fund documentation as it relates specifically to the assets.

As a member of the Manager Onboarding Team (within the larger Operations Team), you will initiate efficient processes for reviewing and implementing agreements on behalf of our institutional pension clients. The role requires the ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams with colleagues from all levels, while effectively communicating opinions and ideas in a succinct and coherent manner.

The Role

The Manager Onboarding Team is a sub-group that focuses on the Onboarding of new investment managers, which includes coordinating all investment related tax/legal documentation on behalf of our clients and in-house funds. We work alongside the Trade Management and Portfolio Management teams, our internal and external lawyers, and third-party asset managers, to ensure we meet the investment requirements of our clients and in-house funds prior to investing them in a third-party managed fund. This will require the ability to showcase strong communication skills, in order to maintain a good rapport with internal and external stakeholders. It will also involve collaborating effectively with colleagues of different professional levels, the ability to manage multiple tasks and to apply your knowledge and experience to identify relevant legal and commercial issues. 

The main aspects of the role are to:

Instruct and coordinate the tax and legal review of third-party asset manager fund documentation as well as other investment-related contracts, including but not limited to, client investor side letters and investment management agreements Understand the commercial and legal requirements of our clients and in-house funds with a view to assist in identifying issues in legal reviews prepared by our external lawyers, that are not market standard and/or would otherwise prevent such clients and/or in-house funds from investing in a third-party managed fund Adhere to our Excellence principles to ensure that any work undertaken is completed in a manner that adds value of the highest quality to our clients Learn about the wider investment consulting business and provide specialist recommendations and guidance to the client consulting teams and portfolio management teams regarding the legal review coordination process Clearly and confidently communicate with colleagues and external parties at all professional levels Assist with due diligence queries from third-party managers and/or their administrators and coordinate the resolution of ad hoc legal and/or tax queries

Other key areas of responsibility could include:

Providing subject matter expertise necessary to lead on projects Maintaining and utilising internal databases Managing relationships with key stakeholders both within the wider Operations team and the Investments business as a whole and with external service providers Applying previous experience to improve existing, and develop new and efficient, processes

The Requirements

A minimum of 1-3 years of successful investment industry experienceExceptional organizational skills with the ability to monitor and manage multiple tasks often within short timeframes. Project management experience is an asset. Some knowledge or background of legal or para-legal experience is an advantageA keen eye and attention to detail.Knowledge/experience of investment manager agreements and fund subscription documents. Expectation of being able to act proactively and independently.Strong oral and written communication skills. English is required.Ability to build strong networks internally and to collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams.Natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.Undergraduate degree with a quantitative emphasis such as majors in Business, Math, Finance, Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience with professional certificationsA proven interest in finance and investments, demonstrating a curiosity to continue to learn and grow as the industry changes. Role is located in Manila. We offer a flexible work environment and currently have at least two anchor days per week where the team is expected to work from the office.
