Investment Risk Manager, Vice President - SSGA

Role Description:

The Investment Risk Analyst will take on a leadership role across the full life cycles of investment risk models, frameworks, and systems with a specific emphasis on risk driven regulatory requirements and focus on Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review stress testing (CCAR) and other key programs (securities lending program, oversight of cash funds…).

The individual will be responsible for:

Collaborating with colleagues at all levels and across regions of the global organization in the design, enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of policies, processes, and procedures across the investment risk program

Creating and presenting key risk summaries to senior management on an ongoing basis

Effective communication of risk process, structure, and framework to clients and regulators

Independently recommending methodologies for enhancing portfolio risk analytics

Unsupervised research and examination of current investment risk issues and best practices

Ownership of ad-hoc requests from various business groups and senior management

The role will require interactions with investment management and product teams, technology and operational groups, as well as senior management and committees across all responsibilities in order to successfully drive and achieve goals at the individual, team, and organizational levels.

Requirements:

Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Advanced technical skills across various data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, R, and Python

Strong interpersonal skills and leadership experience supporting the ability to take ownership and initiative, negotiate, influence, and build consensus to drive decision making.

Strong written and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to efficiently prioritize tasks, responsibilities, and lead projects.

Understanding of the various asset classes, financial instruments (including exchanged traded and OTC derivatives), portfolio construction, risk measures, and risk management techniques.

Experience developing complex risk management processes within an asset management firm preferred.

Working knowledge of risk modeling platforms including MSCI RiskMetrics, Barra, and/or Axioma strongly preferred

Experience:

5 to 8 years of quantitatively focused investment management industry experience

Significant investment industry experience within risk management, portfolio management, and/or quantitative methods preferred.

Familiarity with the regulatory environments and varying fund structures strongly preferred.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Advanced degree in a quantitative field; finance, statistics, or economics preferred.

FRM / CFA designation strongly preferred

Salary Range:

$130,000 - $205,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
