IP Counsel
Introduction to the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic IP Counsel to join our incredibly hardworking Ownership and Licensing team (O&L), for our Corporate Intellectual Property (CIP) department at the global headquarters in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

Role and responsibilities

You would be joining a team of international attorneys and paralegals to be a part of the approximately 90 person CIP department.  You would be working closely with more senior IP counsels as well as other ASML offices in Wilton, San Diego and Silicon Valley in the USA.

Drafting, negotiating and providing IP advice and guidelines related to patent and technology ownership and licensing agreements for multiple sectors of ASML, with a specific focus on R&D project agreements  funded in large part by state-aid (subsidy projects).

Utilizing project management tools to maintain a contract portfolio.

Collaborating with the team regarding IP issues related to ASML’s products or procedures.

Developing an understanding of complex technology in relation to IP.

Working effectively with multiple ASML departments (outside of CIP) and ASML’s key external partners.

Education and experience

To be successful in this position, it is important that you are a highly motivated, proactive and business orientated team-player. The ideal candidate will also have:

A Law Masters’ degree with strong academic credentials.

3+ years of relevant experience, either as in-house legal counsel or within a law firm on IP law.

Preferably an understanding or background in technology (preferably degree in physics, mechanical or electrical engineering, or similar technical fields).

Skills  

Ability to clearly communicate and explain IP issues to non-legal clients (often with only a technical background).

Ability to work on numerous projects in parallel within a fast-paced and ever changing environment.

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), proficient in (business) English.

Strong negotiation and drafting skills, preferably related to contracts.

Ability to work independently and in a collaborative manner.

Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
