Your Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to meet production and profitability targets for the Chubb Masterpiece product by managing a team who will underwrite new and existing Chubb Masterpiece business, based on underwriting criteria issued by International Personal Lines and local underwriting guidelines. This will include product training, completing referrals for new and existing opportunities, working with the IPL National Underwriting Centre (NUC) Manager and IPL leadership team to implement underwriting strategy, conducting underwriting peer reviews, review of marketing materials from an underwriting perspective and contributing to the maintenance of underwriting and portfolio management tools.

Your Responsibilities:

Underwriting Quality
• Drive profitability and growth of portfolio by ensuring quality of all risks written by the team through proactive identification of risk hazards while working within underwriting guidelines.
• Collate underwriting information and refer risks outside the scope of authority issued and be a referral point where necessary.
• Evaluate referrals from Underwriters, providing feedback where appropriate in the form of guidance and tutoring.
• Be a subject matter expert and actively drive New Business through disciplined underwriting and leadership.

Service Delivery & Quality Assurance
• Understand and follow all relevant company guidelines in respect of your role and ensure that the Chubb Code of Business Conduct is always front of mind and followed.
• Demonstrated advocate of compliance with internal policies and laws and appetite to take on first line ownership of risk.
• Monitor workloads and advise if assistance is required due to exceptional circumstances, i.e. seasonal business loads or personal vacation.
• Ensure service KPIs for the team are maintained and adhered to and identify any gaps in service and work with IPL NUC Manager to find solutions.
• Establish and build professional long-term working relationships with all producers you are allocated and refer to Relationship Managers who have prospective business that meets our underwriting guidelines.

Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement
• Work with IPL NUC Manager and IPL leadership team to ensure process and procedures are continually challenged.
• Continually identify opportunities to ensure that process improvement benefits are executed well, and benefits realised.

• Product Development – drafting of policy wording to clearly articulate underwriting intent
• Ability to execute projects independently with minimal guidance; individual must be proactive in attaining results quickly and accurately

• Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with all levels of Chubb personnel as well as in dealing with sponsors, agents, brokers, and clients
• Demonstrated ability to reduce complex material and situations into understandable training segments for use by internal and external customers. 
• Demonstrated expert underwriting knowledge and skills, particularly in relation to policy documentation and policy practice.
• Process flow – ability to review processes and procedures and work with team resources to implement improvements and efficiencies.
• Portfolio Management – understanding of how decisions may impact performance.
• Analytics – ability to identify trends and develop appropriate solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong negotiation and marketing skills, with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships that facilitate the support and leverage of new business opportunities.
• Confidence and literacy in the usage of Microsoft Suite and ability to gain proficiency in external systems including Sunrise.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Personal Lines Product range.
• Strong understanding of the Personal Lines underwriting appetite.
• Demonstrated understanding of Insurance industry and Chubb’s position in the market.
