Background:
Allianz Global Life dac (“AGL”) is a rapidly growing cross-border life insurer with products sold in the French, Italian, and German markets, and more recently, the Greek and Lithuanian markets. It also reinsures a portfolio of variable annuities sold in Taiwan and Japan. Our goal is to expand into other markets over the coming years while continuing to expand our product range. We currently write unit-linked, variable annuity, and protection business.

 

Main Purpose of the Job:

Sales Strategy & Planning:

In conjunction with the CCO, assist in the development, implementation, and management of the overall Sales & Distribution Strategy for AGL, aligned with the overall Company Objectives, Target Market, and Products in the Irish Market. Set targets, monitor performance metrics, and provide guidance to the broker account leaders to achieve revenue and growth targets. Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities, threats, and trends in the Life & Pension Insurance market.

 

Team Leadership & Development:

Provide training and personal development opportunities for the broker account leaders, ensuring they have a relevant understanding of required regulations, products, and ethical selling practices. Oversee the recruitment and selection process for broker account leaders. Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback and development plans.

 

Client Relationship & Stakeholder Management:

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, business partners, and relevant Broker & Industry bodies. Represent AGL as required at Industry & Relevant Business Forums. Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation of the company commercial strategy.

 

Sales Operations:

Oversee day-to-day operations of broker account leaders to ensure efficient processes are in place. Develop and manage Sales Budgets and Forecasting to ensure cost-effective operations. Use appropriate sales tools to track and enhance sales performance.

 

Compliance & Reporting:

Ensure appropriate due diligence is conducted on Broker Agency Applications, in addition to Products before their distribution to Brokers. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies. Deliver required training to Brokers annually as per AGL Guidelines. Stay informed about industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices.

 

Responsibilities:

Distribution coverage in line with the annual Plan of On-Boarding of New Brokers. Achievement of overall Annual Sales Target. Achievement of agreed new Product Launches within the timeframe. Retention and Development of Broker Leaders. Delivery of ad hoc specific Company Projects / Initiatives.

 

Decision-Making Authority: As delegated by the Chief Commercial Officer.

Business Competencies
Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related Financial services field. Relevant Masters would be advantageous. QFA & or CFP is essential.

 

Professional Competence:

Product & Technical Knowledge: Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a senior sales/commercial leadership role in the life insurance industry. Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.

 

Product & Technical Knowledge:

Broad understanding of Investment, Pension & Protection Products & risk management.

 

Management:

Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills. Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to effectively manage and motivate broker account leaders. Stakeholder & Client Relationship Management. Broad understanding of the wider operational aspects of a Life Insurance Company.

 

Commercial Awareness:

Proven track record in a previous role developing & executing Sales & Distribution strategy in the Irish Broker Market. Achievement of Sales Targets & Business Growth. Knowledge of key profit drivers in delivering overall Sales Margins and Company Profits. Knowledge of the marketplace, identifying business opportunities, evaluating competitive landscapes, and recommending strategies to maximize revenue growth.
