What you'll be doing:

Assist Sterilization Supervisor in managing the Gamma Sterilization Operations to assure a high quality and reliable process, within the lowest possible cost and in adherence to production needs.Comply with Irradiator Operator Qualification Required by UNNRC.Follow US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulation (US NRC) and support an ALARA (As Low As Reasonable Achievable) operation.Actively report health and safety hazards, environmental aspects, incidents, and EHS management system risks and opportunities.Report any events or incident related to the Irradiator operation to the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).Participate in the development, planning, implementation, performance evaluation and actions for continuous improvement of the EHS Management System.Stopping activities that RSO considers unsafe.Analyzing potential safety consequences of non-routine operations before conducting any such activities that have not been previously analyzed.Maintaining appropriate records associated with irradiator operations and maintenance such as logbooks.Responsible for the coordination of the operation of the Gamma Irradiator for sterilization of Medical Devices both for internal and external clients.Coordination and leading of Sterilization Operators, maintaining a motivated and focused group of associates. Perform tier meetings as requested or scheduled by Supervisor/Manager/RSO.Be able to perform and/or assist on the scheduled safety checks and maintenance of the irradiator.Ensure proper utilization of equipment and facilities assigned to the Gamma Sterilization Operation.Must repair and provide maintenance or assistance to irradiator, by the utilization of sophisticated testing equipment, and specialized manuals.Must support production lines to maintain the irradiator, plant facility or manufacturing equipment working in excellent conditions.Disassemble equipment, disconnect controls, and remove defective parts so they may be repaired or substituted and perform or assist preventive maintenance regulatory task according to established standards.Must assist the Gamma Engineer/Radiation Safety Officer, during the validation and execution on new or existing machines or product processes.Be able to troubleshoot irradiator systems and properly document planned and unplanned downtime of the irradiator.Must be able to operate production machines or facility equipment.Coordinate and maintain communications with manufacturing departments at the Baxter Aibonito plant for non-sterile finished product flow to the Gamma Sterilization Area.Coordinate and maintain communications for the receipt of product from other Baxter Facilities and external Sterilization Services Customers to be sterilized by Gamma Irradiation in Aibonito.Coordinate the receipt of product from other Baxter Facilities and Sterilization Services Customers to be sterilized by Gamma Irradiation in Aibonito.Follow or coordinate with Supervisor/Manager an established sterilization schedule and generate the Sterilization runs for non-sterile product processing.Calculate the sterilization dwell time for non-sterile product and complete the associated logs and forms.Processing and documentation of irradiation dosimeter results for each sterilization run in a timely manner for product release purposes. A rigorous documentation process of the results of these readings, is expected.Process dose audits, dose studies, and prepare pre-qualifications for new products. Coordinate with internal and external clients these processes if necessary.Manually and/or electronically document the required information to comply with the applicable procedures and/or specifications related to the Gamma Sterilization Operation.  Information includes, but is not limited to, process parameters, lots, and product quantity.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.Be able to establish direct communications with internal and external clients by email, phone or in person.Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and be an excellent communicator who can successfully interact and coordinate activities across departmental boundaries.   Able to do perform mathematical calculations associated with technical analysis and problem solving.  Technically oriented with ability to analyze problems and suggest solutions.  Must have mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.  Proficient with computer systems. Knowledge in NRC regulations.This position requires employee background check including criminal, educational, and employment, among others according to NRC Regulations on Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 37 (10 CFR 37).Medium Work:Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands requirements are more than those for Light Work.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree, Science/Technical related preferred, with 0 - 2 years of experience in a related area preferred, experience in a Sterilization Operation (desirable), orAssociate Degree, Science/Technical related preferred, Technical Degree with 2 - 5 years of experience in a related area, Sterilization Operation (desirable) or Sterilization Process experience.

Spanish with oral and written proficiency in English, Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
