Irrigation Technication

The Irrigation Technician reports directly to the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent. Responsibilities include equipment operation, irrigation repair and operation, crew supervision, and inspecting golf course conditions.

This is a EXPERIENCE ONLY position. A minimum of 1 yr as a GOLF Course Irrigation tech is required.

Overview of Position:

The Irrigation Tech will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our Toro golf course irrigation system. When not performing irrigation duties, the Irrigation Tech will assist in the maintenance of the golf course, working directly under the Assistant golf course superintendent in a foreman role.

Key Responsibilities of the Irrigation Technician:

Performs preventative maintenance on the irrigation system including the water features.
  Repairs and ensures proper operation of the irrigation system as needed. Water greens, tees, and fairways
  Reports any serious irrigation breaks immediately to the Head Irrigation Technician or Superintendent and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
  Prioritizes irrigation breaks and uses time efficiently.
  Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads.
  Properly inventory and stock all irrigation parts and tools to minimize downtime.
  Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements
  Operates, maintains, and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, computer, and irrigation control wire.
  Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.
  Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure the system is operating properly.
  Responsible for winterization and blowout of the irrigation system, including all water lines, valves, and pump stations.
  Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  Performs other duties as required.
 

Responsibilities:

Opens the maintenance shop and runs operations in the absence of the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent
  Aerifies greens; verticut and or mow tees and greens; spikes greens; operates sod cutter, spray rigs for greens and fertilizer spreaders; and mows rough with rotary and operates other equipment as directed
  May be asked to change pins and tee markers
  Ensures a safe work environment
  Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
  Work/Lead every 3rd or 4th weekend
