NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking an Irrigation Technician at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. In this role, the irrigation technician is responsible for the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including maintenance and groundskeeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, memorials, monuments, conducting interments, entombments and inurnments, and repairs and maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
Grounds Keeping: Cuts grass; maintains lawn and trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers; lays sod moves and removes flowers to and from the chapel and graveside; blows leaf and grass; edges with stick edger; clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition; cleans ponds and fountains and hand digs/trenching. Tree and shrub pruning and trimming; mows the grass on riding/ZTR mower; planting; opening and closing of cemetery gates; advanced painting; takes care of customer requests including but not limited to vases and leveling; opening/closing of mausoleum crypts; marker installation; gravesite setups; assists lead crew member Niche/Inurnment opening/closing; assists lead crew member in Niche/Crypt plate setting; assists in urn disinterment; minor irrigation repairs including but not limited to replacing sprinkler heads under 2” and PVC repairs; fulfills work orders. Cuts and removes trees Responsible for backhoe operation, vault replacement in graves, vault delivery (brings vault from yard to graveside), and places lids and/or covers. Irrigation systems including repairing or replacing broken or damaged parts of irrigation systems, including heads, pumps, valves, pipes, and timers. Inspecting and Testing irrigation Systems to identify and resolve problems. Responsible for installing, maintaining, and programming irrigation controllers, timers, and rain sensors. Designing and planning irrigation layouts as per landscape needs as well as new developments with the cemetery. Takes care of customer requests including but not limited to drill/tap, refinishing, cameos, emblems, and base replacement Responsible for marker installation and use of lifting devices and setting of prefab markers. Gravesite set-ups Assists in grave disinterment and leads on urn disinterment Perform Opening/Closing niche inurnments by themselves Performs basic installation on niche/crypt and vase Able to perform mechanical repairs on the cemetery equipment Understand IOAs, IWOs, marker setting forms, IRLA, Stake and Probe Able to complete lot pin replacements Facilities Cleaning: Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities. Cleans and maintains the facility, performs minor concrete work street maintenance, and advanced painting Assists in loading and unloading caskets. Valid driver’s license High School Diploma or equivalent 12 months or more of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance Previous work experience as an Irrigation Technician Knowledge of Irrigation Systems.
