At Bernhard, stability, innovation, and growth are more than just values—they are the pillars of our continued success. **Overview** The IS Mechanical Designer I will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles. **Responsibilities** Specific responsibilities include: • Works closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects. • Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects. • Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities. • Produces design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling. • Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines. • Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department. • Performs work under direct supervision. • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. • Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents. • Other duties as assigned or required. **Qualifications** **Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications** • Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field • 1-2 years’ experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT • Strong technical skills • Effective oral and written communications skills • Vision and Creativity • Ability to meet deadlines • Planning skills • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter. • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. **Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications** • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree • Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience – Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium • HVAC Design and Commissioning experience – Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam • Higher Education and Healthcare design experience **Travel Requirements** 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location. **Physical/Work Environment Requirements** Physical Activities + Climbing stairs. + Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods + Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers + Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another + Operating machinery and/or power tools + Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment Environmental Conditions + Quiet environment + Noisy environment + Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind + Small and/or enclosed spaces Physical Demands + Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds Bernhard is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities, Women, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities, and participates in the e-Verify program.
