Additionally, when duties and responsibilities of this job change, this job description will be reviewed and updated, subject to changes and business necessity. **Custom Job Purpose:** This position exists to perform advanced technical work in engineering, implementation, and support for District network, servers (virtual and physical), storage, and backup systems. Supports complex enterprise level hardware and application platforms. Provides network account management services, escalated technical support, technology research, and manages assigned technology projects. **Essential Functions of this Job** Plans, coordinates, and implements the installation, maintenance and monitoring of the District#s network and systems. Performs maintenance of routers, switches, and related equipment. Coordinates with other IT, District and school-based personnel during installations and upgrades to assure limited interruption of service. Configures, administers, and monitors the district firewall, web filtering service and other network security services. Works with other systems administrators and support teams in troubleshooting and resolving problems. Liaise with vendors and outside agencies for problem resolution. Actively participates in the development and maintenance of technology policies and procedures. Evaluates and recommends programs, software, and applications to ensure compliance with District technology standards. Reviews and makes recommendations concerning technology purchases and acquisitions for the District. Performs monitoring and analysis of various enterprise and networking systems. Coordinates training for district staff and end users as needed. Plans and manages projects and prioritize tasks to meet timelines. **Non-Essential Functions of this Job** Performs other duties as assigned. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** Comprehensive knowledge of network operations and common LAN and WAN services. Ability to configure and manage network switching hardware. Knowledge of all network hardware components including servers, switches, hubs, and routers. Comprehensive knowledge of network wiring, network design and network traffic flow. Thorough knowledge of network communications including protocols, switching, and routing. Ability to install, setup, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain servers. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Windows servers, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft System Center, and virtualization technologies, preferably VMWare. Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, storage area networks and Microsoft Azure. Knowledge of network security principles and practices. Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery principles. Familiarity with firewall and web filtering principals and concepts. Skilled in testing with various systems and network diagnostic devices and interpretation of test results. Familiarity with Linux. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with others. Ability to effectively plan and organize projects and work assignments. **Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements** Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with an associate degree in information technology, computer science or a closely related field. Four (4) years of responsible experience in the field of information technology, including network and systems administration. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies necessary for success in the target position may be considered. Bachelor#s degree preferred. **Work Context:** Requires sitting, standing, walking, and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones, and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. **Physical Environment:** Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
