**POSITION DETAILS**
The IT Academic Technology Coordinator (aHEO) will monitor the technology needs of the Computer Science department. This role is responsible for coordinating security patching efforts, providing support for Linux, Mac, and Windows based systems, and assisting faculty and students with instructional and research software and hardware. The ideal candidate will have experience in educational technology.
Reporting to the department chair and security committee, the IT Academic Technology Coordinator's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Assist in ensuring the security and integrity of departmental systems by coordinating timely updates and monitoring security advisories to assess their impact on operations.
-Document all security updates and prepare reposts for departmental review, ensuring transparency and accountability in IT processes.
- Assist faculty and students with coordinating software installation, configuration, and maintenance on Linux platforms.
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine tasks and system monitoring.
- Work closely with faculty members to understand their technical needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Communicate proactively with students, faculty, and staff regarding IT services, updates, and support availability.
- Create and maintain user manuals, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides for departmental software and systems.
- Provide support in managing user accounts and permissions for students and faculty within the networked environment, facilitating secure access to instructional systems.
- Maintain an inventory of Computer Science Department equipment, helping ensure all resources are accounted for and properly managed.
- Maintain Computer Science Department website and manage server configurations
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others in the Hunter College Computer Science Department and Hunter College’s technology departments.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or a related technical field required;
• Experience with the latest Ubuntu Linux operating systems
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must have excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to deal with sensitive information with confidentiality and tact.
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Adaptable and able to manage and incorporate change.
• Effective interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
• Experience in Higher Education.
• Minimum two(2) years of experience in computer operations, systems administration, and user support, especially Linux and open-source operating systems.
**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**
Provides support to students and faculty in the use of instructional systems, software, and programs.
- Researches and prepares program materials, FAQs, and user guides
- Provides telephone and/or email support for faculty and student users of instructional systems, software, and programs
- Develops training materials and delivers orientation/training sessions
- Maintains on-line information on web sites
- Acts as liaison to related areas such as CUNY's Computer and Information Services area, to evaluate and escalate reported problems, and disseminate information notices
- Assists faculty with use of instructional technology to support educational goals
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**
Salary commensurate with education and experience, within approved range: $65,946 - $86,188.
