Job SummaryThe Finance team in Information Technology Services (ITS) at the University of Michigan is seeking an IT Accounting Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will oversee the department's maintenance of accounting operations and data entry, ensuring the accuracy and verification of journal entries, accounting classifications, and account reconciliations. This role will involve preparing, consolidating, and analyzing various accounting reports while ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards. The analyst will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating a range of financial reports, covering expenses, inventories, budget balances, and other ad-hoc reporting needs. The position also encompasses billing, accounts receivable, and payable responsibilities. A firm understanding of current policies, industry standards, and best practices is essential for success in this role. The analyst may also lead or assist with special projects that require strategic thinking and alignment with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in financial analysis, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments.

Responsibilities*Maintain and ensure the smooth functioning of day-to-day accounting processes within the department.Prepare and analyze reports to ensure compliance with policies and standards.Develop and update financial reports on expenses, inventories, and budgets.Verify journal entries, account classifications, and reconciliations.Monitor budgets, forecasts, and performance reports, including capital funding strategies in collaboration with leadership.Collaborate with senior leadership and department heads to create comprehensive capital funding strategies that support the organization's long-term objectives. Ensure policy compliance through gap analysis and audits.Consult with management, provide recommendations on financial operations, and review business cases for financial requests.Lead or assist with special projects, utilizing strategic thinking to align with organizational goals.Handle billing processes, accounts receivable, and accounts payable efficiently.Maintain a firm understanding of policies, industry standards, and best practices. Provide oversight for account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and initiate corrections, manage and track department inventories, vendor payments, vendor contracts Cash handling responsibilities include receiving and depositing cash and checks, gift processing, and deposit reconciliation. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required. Normal amount of sitting, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amounts of work at a computer.
SCHEDULE
This position is currently hybrid, working in the office on Thursdays and the other four days remote. A remote work agreement is required and will be reviewed and updated at least once every 12 months.
