IT Applications Co-Op

BXP maintains a robust portfolio of business applications and systems supporting both its enterprise and building operations across the United States. This internship will expose the successful candidate to technology and platforms, both IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology), that enable critical network functions to enable BXP organization. This role interacts with other members of the IT team and with business partners based on the nature of their assigned project.

 

Primary Purpose of Position: 

This role will work with both the Applications and the Application Data Services team to enhance and expand the automations within our core reporting platforms. There will also be a support component to this role, and it will incorporate administration and support for our core financial applications: Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Business Object’s Crystal Enterprise, Corporate Budgeting Tools, and other related third-party SaaS and PaaS applications. 

 

Essential Functions

Application Testing and Reporting

Test new applications, configurations or enhancements. Coordinate beta testing. Develop reports. Assist others in the use of reporting tools. Follow guidelines and controls in promoting new packages and versions. Integrate & support third party applications and tools.

Maintenance & Support

Respond to and manage daily user inquiries leveraging the ServiceNow platform. Troubleshoot and resolve problems. Escalate issues to outside vendors & contractors if necessary.  Act as primary liaison with vendors and/or internal resources to ensure appropriate technical and product-level support.  Support the Applications Group on numerous project initiatives at the company. Support the Application Data Services team with database maintenance, patching, and performance as necessary.

Dedicated Project Work

Every Intern is assigned an impactful project(s). Approximately 50% of time is associated with project work. The scope of project(s) changes, but the impact will enhance the IS Department at BXP.

Internal Operations

Create and maintain documentation. Conduct research on new technologies and products.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

Currently performing coursework in Computer Sciences or a related field. Possess a service orientation and attitude in working with others. Be detail-oriented and methodical in solving problems and managing multiple projects. Possess an aptitude toward learning technical concepts. Be results-oriented and a quick learner in supporting new products and technologies. Strong knowledge of relational databases. Knowledge of PowerBI or other reporting tool sets. Knowledge of API and Python frameworks to aggregate data from disparate sources.

 

Physical Requirements

Involves work of a general office nature usually performed sitting such as operation of a computer. Involves work of a general office nature usually performed standing such as operation of a fax and printer. Involves movement between departments to facilitate work. Involves lifting to install and/or relocate computers and monitors. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

This position regularly interacts in both verbal and written form with employees.

 

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Vice President, Applications who provides supervision and guidance, and coordinates, evaluates, and monitors work performance on a periodic basis.
