IT Business Analyst

POSITION PURPOSE:

To act as a liaison between business units and IT technical teams, working with the business to understand future goals and objectives to develop strategic plans.  Responsible for execution of the requirements process to translate business needs into functional specifications, including the establishment of standards, use-cases, templates, and critical processes (i.e., requirements, change control, requirements traceability).  Is an intermediary between the business community and Entergy's IT Delivery teams, working with Program Managers, Development teams, Solution Architects, and business subject matter experts (SME) to capture, clarify, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which applications and solutions are developed. Helps shape the technology implementation to meet the demand among the business unit. Provide Operational Support to ensure customer incident/service requests are handled in a timely manner and there are no impacts to daily operations. This role will be filled as an IT Business Analyst.

 

Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:

Assist in developing roadmaps for System Planning applications by working with our business partners to understand their future goals and objectives. Assist with project planning and initiation for System Planning identified roadmap items by working with our business partners to develop business cases. Responsible for execution of the requirements process to translate business needs into functional specifications, including the establishment of standards, use-cases, templates, and critical processes (i.e., requirements, change control, requirements traceability). Provide testing support for approved projects. Provide operational support to ensure incidents/requests are being handled in a timely manner and there are no impacts to daily operations. Provide operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-business hours, on-call support Understand client requirements and how they translate to application features/enhancements. Learn and understand System Planning Operations business needs and objectives; working with the Solution Architect to recommend/design applications and implement enhancements that meet customer business needs. Provide and maintain real time systems application availability, ensuring that applications are active and operating as defined in any Service Level Agreements Support the design, development, and testing of real time systems applications and enhancements Provide an interface with software vendors and support vendors for discussion, consultation, problem solving and best upgrade practices on the 3rd party Market Application systems. 

 

Experience:

Business Analyst

1 to 2 years experience in Information Technology project experience 6 to 18 months Energy industry experience (desired, not required)

Minimum Educational Background and Physical Requirements Required to perform Job:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical degree or Experience Equivalent Advanced Degree (preferred, not required)
