JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Information Technology Consultant is responsible for maintaining and supporting Power Delivery Systems, focusing on transmission, distribution, and Incident Response. In this role the IT Consultant will design/develop and support the IT operations support systems in support of Power Delivery.
The IT Consultant will apply appropriate software quality assurance principles for configuration management system software. In addition, the IT Consultant will develop computer and information system plans that capitalize on the current installed technology base and prudently employ new technology where appropriate.
In addition, where needed, the IT Consultant will provide customer support and services for problem reporting, and service requests and inquiries. This includes developing and providing training to end users on assigned systems.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide consultation and support for strategic planning aspects of computer hardware, software and local area and wide area networks infrastructure to insure consistency with business plans and corporate standards. Conduct business analytical studies to integrate business needs into system wide development plans to ensure the System Business Unit needs are met. Analyze user processes and requirements to identify potential improvements. Develop and provide training to end users on assigned systems. Perform reviews and audits of work performed by the organization. Develop and revise procedures in accordance with current regulatory and administrative requirements as well as develop plans and recommend actions to management team. Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing. Implements, tests, troubleshoots, and improves electronic automation and controls systems in operations processes to increase production quality, efficiency and volume. Checks control system schematics and specifications and uses software and testing equipment to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions. Develops and defines Power Delivery systems such as the GIS, Damage Prediction & Assessment applications, Transmission Outage System, and other storm support systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. A degree is highly preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position.
IT Consultant: 4+ years of experience with designing, developing and supporting IT systems.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.
Experience with IT systems security, security architecture, network security engineering or secure network development experience with electric power utilities. Knowledge of the operation of the electric power systems Knowledge of system hardening, patch management, and configuration management Visual Studio, C-Sharp, SQL/Oracle, PLS SQL, VVNet, Shell scripting and/or PowerBI
