Summary:
Information Technology Services is a team of dedicated professionals providing core technology and cybersecurity services to agencies statewide, enabling state employees to serve Idaho's citizens.
The ITS Database Administration team has an opening for a Database Administration Analyst II in our Boise, Idaho office. This position offers comprehensive database administration support to a diverse set of State of Idaho agencies. Key duties include providing direct customer support for database maintenance, management, and administration. Responsibilities involve troubleshooting, disaster recovery, problem resolution, database design and development, alongside the creation and management of SQL scripts and stored procedures.
The selected individual must possess in-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server support. Excellent time management skills and the ability to maintain multiple priorities are crucial to success in this role.
Please note: The successful candidates will be required to pass multiple, comprehensive fingerprint-based background checks specific to the agencies ITS supports. Example of Duties
+ Provides daily support for multiple enterprise database platforms (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL);
+ Manages the design, development, and upgrades of databases;
+ Troubleshoots issues and performs SQL scripting development;
+ Develops stored procedures, backup and recovery plans, and other database management functions;
+ Develops a variety of reports (SSRS, PowerBI);
+ Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours support;
+ Works closely with software developers in support of application development and integration activities;
+ Implements database changes and enhancements from user requirements;
+ Monitors and optimizes database performance;
+ Monitors, manages, and tests backup, restore, and database functions to maintain data integrity and availability.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Good knowledge of relational database principles and data normalization.
Typically gained by obtaining an associate's degree or certification related to relational database concepts and data normalization OR at least one (1) year of full-time work experience (including combination of work experience and internships) regularly working with and supporting relational databases as part of your primary job responsibilities.
+ Good knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
Typically gained by current certification related to Structured Query Language (SQL) design or administration AND at least one (1) year of full-time work experience (including combination of work experience and internships) writing, testing, and utilizing SQL as part of your primary job responsibilities OR at least two (2) years of full-time work experience (including combination of work experience and internships) writing, testing, and utilizing SQL as part of your primary job responsibilities.
+ Experience installing, administering, and monitoring production databases and database servers.
Typically gained through at least one (1) year of full-time work experience (including combination of work experience and internships) installing, administering and monitoring production databases and database servers as part of your primary job responsibilities.
+ Experience technically interacting directly with clients to analyze customer needs.
