IT Developer (Cobol Mainframe) @MMCTech

As MMC approaches a fascinating growth stage, we are looking for an IT Developer (Z/OS Mainframe) to join the Continental Europe Information and Technology team.

The fiduciary platform runs on a Z/OS mainframe (COBOL/VSAM/TSO/FOCUS) and currently serves 6,000 users in over 30 countries.

To strengthen its IT Application team, we are looking for an IT Developer to support the implementation of ongoing/new projects within the fiduciary service centre managed out of Brussels, Belgium.

In this capacity, you will be part of all initiatives (both change and run the business) making sure that the delivered outcomes are in line with the business requirements. In this role, you will, at term, act as a pivotal point of contact between the business demands from several regions (Continental Europe / UK & Ireland /Eastern Europe/ Africa) and the IT delivery teams.


We will count on you to:

Participate in the functional/technical analysis and challenge the scoping of the project.Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications and programs.Analyse and troubleshoot existing COBOL code to identify and resolve issues.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement solutions.Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.Write and maintain technical documentation for applications and processes.Participate in system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).Provide support and training to end-users as needed.Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in COBOL and related technologies.

What you need to have:

Excellent communication both in English and RomanianLong-term engagement to build out a career in a mainframe environment.Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives, including cloud migration and integration with modern technologies.

What makes you stand out? 

Knowledge of the insurance or financial sector is an advantage.A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is an advantage.Proven experience as a COBOL Developer is an advantage.Familiarity with mainframe environments and tools (e.g., CICS, JCL, TSO, Focus) is an advantage
