Position: IT-Engineer - Cloud Operations
Job Summary:
The position is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to automate cloud deployments, optimize performance, and ensure security. Additionally, the engineer supports cloud financial operations, focusing on cost optimization, financial transparency, and the implementation of FinOps strategies. They work to enforce financial controls and provide insights on cloud expenditures to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Solution Design: Architect and implement cloud infrastructure solutions using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate and manage cloud environments using IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.Cloud Cost Optimization: Analyze and enhance cloud resource usage for performance and cost-efficiency while minimizing waste.Application Migration: Lead efforts to migrate applications and workloads to the cloud.Collaboration: Work with development and DevOps teams to streamline Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure for security and performance.FinOps Integration: Implement cloud cost management strategies, enforce financial controls, and develop real-time reporting tools and dashboards for cloud expenditure insights.Vendor & Cloud Management: Collaborate with cloud providers to secure optimal pricing and discounts.Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to improve cloud efficiency and policy adherence.Research & Improvement: Identify and implement strategies for ongoing operational and cost optimization.Governance & Compliance: Develop and enforce policies for cloud cost transparency, resource tagging, and cost control.Automation & Tooling: Implement automation tools for tracking and optimizing cloud performance and costs.Training & Knowledge Sharing: Educate teams on cloud best practices, cost management, and performance optimization.General IT Responsibilities:
Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.Documentation: Maintain technical documentation.Collaboration: Work effectively with team members and stakeholders.Continuous Learning: Stay updated on cloud technologies and FinOps best practices.Customer Service: Provide exceptional support to end-users.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: 5+ years in cloud engineering including FinOps with a focus on operational and cost optimization strategies and governance.Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Automation Tools: Experience with IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.Containerization & Orchestration: Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.Networking & Security: Strong understanding of networking, security best practices, and cloud governance.DevOps Practices: Experience with CI/CD pipelines.Collaboration & Communication: Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Typically requires a Bachelor’s degreePreferred Skills:
Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell), Terraform, CloudFormation for automation tasks.Cloud Native Tools: Proficiency with monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch and Azure Monitor.Other Tools: Grafana, Splunk, PrometheusFinancial Background: Experience of financial accounting principles related to cloud computing.DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with integrating financial management in DevOps practices.Multi-Cloud Management: Experience managing costs across multiple cloud platforms.Change Management: Expertise in driving the adoption of cloud financial practices.Certifications (Preferred):
