Description
An organization is seeking an IT Infrastructure Architect to join its Global Information Systems group in Pittsburgh, PA. The Infrastructure Architect proactively leads and supports architecture activities that guide the development and management of technical and infrastructure solutions. This role involves creating artifacts that help develop target-state guidance (standards, guidelines, individual parts, platforms, and configurations) for evolving technical infrastructure across the enterprise. The resulting solutions are designed to be agile and capable of meeting the organization's current and future-state business capabilities, driving targeted business outcomes.
The Infrastructure Architect should have a broad knowledge of various technologies and be able to articulate technical architecture design decisions and their value. The role will involve working with data center infrastructure, cloud, mobile, smart-manufacturing, and edge computing.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
+ Demonstrate competencies across three key dimensions: leading, collaborating, and delivering business outcomes and value.
+ Work closely with business representatives, process owners, and subject matter experts from other IT functions to contribute to the design of efficient and value-adding business solutions.
+ Design scalable and flexible infrastructure solutions for future needs.
+ Oversee and consult on technology changes, updates, and implementations.
+ Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures.
+ Lead the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the organization.
+ Maintain awareness of business strategy and IT strategy to ensure alignment and future readiness.
+ Periodically review infrastructure-related technology roadmaps and evaluate them against both internal and external environments to maintain a clear technology direction.
+ Analyze and evaluate new and existing technologies.
+ Guide technology investment decisions based on analysis to drive value-adding business outcomes while ensuring nonfunctional requirements are met.
+ Conduct periodic analysis of the technical environment to identify deficiencies, opportunities for improvement, and recommended solutions.
+ Understand and apply technology trends and emerging technologies to support evolving business models.
+ Help define enterprise technology value metrics.
+ Assist with governance and standards activities to ensure compliance with technology architecture policies.
Basic Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Minimum of five years of design and implementation experience in IT.
+ Understanding of lifecycle management, configuration management, impact, and risk analysis.
+ Ability to assess technical and architectural debt.
+ Leadership experience.
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
Required Skills:
+ Expertise in data center technologies, including advanced cooling systems, fire suppression, and energy-efficient power solutions.
+ Ability to specify on-premise server hardware and storage technologies for solution requirements.
+ Hands-on experience with server hardware, storage, virtualization, and operating systems.
+ Ability to derive infrastructure hardware specifications and review vendor quotations for accuracy.
+ Knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as backups, monitoring, and automation tools.
+ Understanding of security technologies such as SIEMs, PKI, IDS/IPS, encryption, and firewalls.
+ Experience with identity-related technologies like LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, SSO, MFA, and RBAC.
+ Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms.
+ Strong analytical and technical skills.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
+ Strong leadership and communication skills (written and verbal).
+ Strong planning and organizational skills.
+ Knowledge of IT standards and controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Advanced degree in a related field.
+ Expertise with Microsoft Azure.
+ Knowledge of enterprise architecture components.
+ Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
+ Understanding of database operations.
+ Knowledge of modeling languages such as UML and ArchiMate.
+ Understanding of NIST 800-171, DFARS, Export Control, or CMMC 2.0 requirements and standards.
