The Position

IT Storage Infrastructure products deliver services for file, high performance file, object and block technologies including lifecycle management and tiering to ingest, store, use, share, archive and delete data. The product provides consultancy and tailored infrastructure designs for IaaS deployments, manages demand, delivery, operations, enhancements and life cycle of the hardware infrastructure.

We provide worldwide services for +300 PB storage infrastructure.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual for the position of Storage Infrastructure Engineer to join the Storage Infrastructure team. A deeply skilled specialist who thrives in solving a variety of complex business problems through practical and ingenious application of technologies with devops knowledge who knows how to apply automation when needed.

Someone who contributes to and technically leads challenging projects which require deep technical knowledge and infrastructure engineering skills.

Your responsibilities include:

Contribute to technology designs in their respective infrastructure technology space align and adhere to the organization’s architecture technical strategy, policies, standards and direction

To ensure technologies implemented comply Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable

Experience of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service applying Scrum and Agile methodologies and devops mindset.

To establish technical direction and contribute/write best practices, position papers, and white papers for the infrastructure technologies and the use cases for their respective technology areas

To stay proactive and aware of operational challenges and opportunities; works with support team staff to provide internal escalation support as needed to resolve incidents and major incidents

To produce and maintain sufficient documentation for the designs, design patterns, and component standards created or maintained

Able to work autonomously

Contribute to the end-to-end design of infrastructure technologies and the creation and maintenance of related standards

To contribute to determining success criteria and to evaluate across technology domains promising technologies via proofs of concept (PoCs) and assess their feasibility in meeting Roche’s business needs

To serve as consultant to senior internal/external stakeholders on the relevant technical matters pertaining to the technology strategy

To strengthen the overall Engineering community by building bridges and collaborating with other Engineers in other infrastructure technology areas

To advise, influence, collaborate with, and integrate feedback from various IT partners including architects, service owners, integrated service owners line-of-business stakeholders

Contribution to map the technology roadmaps into portfolio projects/activities and to contribute in estimating resources, dependencies, risks, and timelines required to deliver these projects/activities successfully

We need a passionate person who has:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience

+6 years of relevant experience (software development, integration, engineering design)

Hands-on experience in the following areas/technologies:

Deep understanding of Storage arrays and Storage solutions architectures

Extensive experience designing and implementing Object Storage Solutions with NetApp and in the Cloud (AWS, preferred, Azure and GCP are a plus), including tiering, archiving and cost understanding.

Experience with data lifecycle including data architectures, data storage, system integrations, system maintenance, system migrations, data transfers, and data archival.

Ability to perform storage data analytics, reporting, and visualization.

Experience delivering highly available and scalable solutions, understanding of different HA and DR techniques.

Experience in implementing Storage logging and monitoring solutions

Experience in provisioning solutions using Infrastructure as Code techniques such as Cloud Formation, ARM, Ansible or Terraform

Configuration management and automation using leading CM tools in the industry. Hands-on experience in deployment automation using Shell/Python Scripting with concentration on DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub. Source Code Management experience

Experience in agile ways of working (e.g. SAFe)

Experience operating in regulated environments

Strong collaboration and influencing skills with a proven ability to lead and inspire

Analytical, logical problem-resolution skills

Experience in working in a multicultural and international environment

Advanced English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
