Infrastructure Operations & Core Systems Management - leading the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, databases, Active Directory, DNS, and Microsoft hybrid services (Exchange, Office 365), ensuring proper network configurations, including VPNs, VPCs, and subnets, to enable secure and efficient connectivity between systems, and managing performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and continual improvements across both cloud and on-premises systems. Security, Compliance, & Risk Management - collaborating with the Security Team to enforce best practices for identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and data protection, overseeing the implementation of critical updates and vulnerability remediation for on-premises and cloud systems, leveraging cloud automation tools (e.g., SyxSense), ensuring compliance with security policies, and participating in cloud security audits, incident response, and risk assessments. Team Leadership & Continuous Innovation - leading and mentoring a team of Microsoft professionals and cloud engineers and providing training to strengthen expertise in emerging technologies, driving continuous improvement by integrating automation (IaC, CI/CD pipelines) and adopting innovative cloud practices to streamline operations, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure IT infrastructure aligns with evolving business needs, promoting efficiency and cost optimization across hybrid environments. Essential Duties + Develop and implement secure, scalable cloud strategies to meet business goals across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms. + Design and manage hybrid infrastructure solutions integrating on-premises systems with cloud environments. + Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines, storage, databases, and core Microsoft systems. + Ensure infrastructure security by collaborating with the Security Team on IAM, encryption, and vulnerability management. + Monitor system performance, availability, and scalability across on-premises and cloud environments, implementing improvements. + Manage cloud and on-premises budgets by analyzing usage and optimizing costs, while negotiating contracts with vendors. + Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, providing training and development to enhance expertise in cloud technologies. + Drive automation initiatives through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. + Ensure compliance with cloud security standards through audits, assessments, and incident response planning. + Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure designs, policies, and procedures to support operational efficiency and innovation. Public Speaking Duties + Present Cloud Strategies and Infrastructure Roadmaps + Deliver presentations to executive leadership and stakeholders on cloud strategies, hybrid infrastructure roadmaps, and technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals + Lead Technical Training and Workshops + Conduct training sessions and workshops for internal teams and departments, sharing knowledge on cloud technologies, security best practices, and operational procedures to promote effective use of IT resources + Represent IT in Public Forums and Vendor Meetings + Speak at public forums, conferences, and vendor meetings to discuss IT infrastructure advancements, negotiate contracts, and promote the organization’s technology vision and achievements. Other Job Requirements/Information + This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting. + This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
