The IT Pharmacy Specialist is able to perform the duties of a clinical pharmacy specialist. The main responsibilities of this position include maintaining the Pharmacy Hospital System dictionaries and coordinating IT related issues and enhancements within the department. Requirements include a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and residency training (or equivalent clinical experience). Experience with various information systems (such as Cerner, CPSI, Pyxis, e-Mar, and CPOE) preferred. Excellent communication, organization, self-direction, and prioritization skills are required.
Education Required
· Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university required.
Education Preferred
License, Certification and/or Registration
· License to Practice Pharmacy in Alabama required.
Experience
· Prior hospital experience preferred. Experience with various information systems (such as Cerner, Meditech, Pyxis, e-Mar, and CPOE) preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities
· Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
· Must be proficient in mathematics, English language/grammar.
