IT PMO Operations Intern

Job Title: IT PMO Intern (this position is Hybrid working 2 days a week in the SBH Texas Support Center)

Essential Function

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented summer intern to join our IT Project Management Office (PMO). The intern will support our PMO team in creating project reports to project timelines, financial performance, resource allocation (effort vs. capacity) and other projects as assigned. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT project management and contribute to the success of critical IT initiatives.

Primary Duties

40% Assist the PMO in monitoring and auditing project progress to ensure compliance with SDLC and gating processes

30% Conduct research and analysis to support project planning and decision-making

20% Assist in the coordination and management of IT PMO administrative functionals i.e., updating QuickBase, running reports, documenting meeting notes and actions

10% Participate in project meetings and assist in preparing meeting agendas and minutes

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management, Finance or a related field. Strong interest in IT and project management. Excellent data analysis skills. Proficient in Excel and data modeling tools; Power BI a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Previous internship experience in IT or project management is a plus.

Competencies / Attributes

Gain comprehensive insights into IT project management methodologies, financial controls and best practices. Develop skills in project operations and auditing. Work closely with experienced IT professionals and managers. Network within a professional IT PMO environment and participate in real-world IT projects. Receive mentorship and guidance from senior Finance and IT staff.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
