BWX Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking an IT Project Manager for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The ideal candidate is a strategic, conceptual, innovative, experienced IT Project Manager, with a broad range of IT experience, who manages the initiation, planning, execution, control, budget and closing of strategic, complex, high-risk, varying size IT projects and programs. Preferred candidates will have IT Applications, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity experience, and will be experienced in project managing multiple concurrent projects within the structure of a PMO. This is a hands-on task-level Project Management position. The candidate will need to be local to Lynchburg VA and will work on-site weekly. Some remote work is possible, but the ability to be at the Lynchburg Office regularly is required.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Drives the successful execution of critical, complex, high-risk IT projects, manage the strategic direction and day-to-day tactical aspects of projects, and meets aggressive deadlines. Develops the strategy for IT project execution, defining project scope, general specifications, resource requirements, schedule, and cost estimate baselines. Develops and manages IT project budgets, manages external vendors, and leads vendor selection, contracts. Works with the business to develop return on investment (ROI) and obtain management approvals. Works with resource managers to staff IT projects, with impact consideration of other projects, and functional/operational objectives. Develops and maintains IT project schedules and estimates in defined PM tool and maintains project team SharePoint Site and accurate project documentation. Manages IT project schedules, resources, budget, change control, issues, and risks proactively, escalating as necessary to ensure barriers are removed and projects meet their schedules. Provides timely and accurate IT project status reporting and meetings, targeting different audiences including project team, PMO, Stakeholders and Executives. Ensures project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and associated metrics are available and accurate and meet PMO standards and guidelines. Ensures project management approaches are consistent, measurable, and aligned with the IT PMO standards and best practices. Ensures that solutions meet the needs of the enterprise and business unit representatives and oversees the quality aspects of the project and resulting solution. Assists in the implementation of project management tools and methodologies. Champions the promotion of integrity in all projects, ensuring the projects are run effectively and with proper governance. Understands and anticipates internal and external business challenges, and makes recommendations and decisions based on what’s best for the organization, professionally challenging stakeholders on critical project success factors. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree. Ten (10) years of relevant Project Management experience. This includes managing concurrent multiple complex IT projects, including Applications (ERP, MES, Supply Chain, Time & Labor, Financial), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure solutions. Strategic, visionary with strong business acumen. Proven ability to define solutions and solve problems through conceptual and innovative thought process. Ability to proactively anticipate and resolve challenges. Expert understanding of automation tools and information technology. Proven success in defining, organizing, managing and delivering projects, meeting scope, quality, schedule and budget. Proven success in proactive issues and risk management. Experience and knowledge with the project management body of knowledge, Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Microsoft SharePoint, Teams and Visio. Must have excellent and effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
Pay: $85,000 - $134,000
The base salary range for this position in VA at the start of employment is expected to be between $85,000 and $134,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
