The IT Project Manager will provide project management services for large-scale IT initiatives, offering leadership and technical expertise in collaboration with internal teams and public sector clients. This role includes oversight of project deliverables, risk management, and stakeholder engagement while adhering to federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate is skilled in Agile and Waterfall methodologies, has experience with organizational change management, and excels at managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide project management expertise for large-scale IT projects, ensuring scope, timeline, and budget adherence.Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and other critical project documentation (e.g., Communication Plan, Risk Plan, Stakeholder Register).Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, including implementing mitigation strategies and facilitating issue resolution.Oversee the development and delivery of all project deliverables, status reports, and other work products.Support the planning and execution of organizational change management strategies as needed.Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver customer-centric solutions.Facilitate client discussions, manage stakeholder communication, and provide regular project status updates.Manage project budgets and track project performance against goals.Lead proposal writing and business development efforts, including identifying new sales opportunities.Provide recommendations for continuous process improvement.Participate in Agile Project Management and Organizational Change Management workshops.The above is intended to describe the general contents and requirements of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. Required Skills:
Strong understanding of federal and state regulations, specifically related to the State of California public service and non-profit organizations.Advanced project management skills, including the ability to centralize project management services and mature project portfolio methodologies.Proficiency in Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences.Strong Microsoft Office skills, including MS Project, Power BI, MS Teams, and other data analysis tools.Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills, with a consultancy mindset.Commitment to excellent customer service.Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.Experience:7+ years of project management experience, with at least 4 years in a lead capacity for public sector projects and federally funded initiatives.Experience with the California Department of Technology’s Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL).Certifications:Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is requiredCertified Scrum Master (CSM) certification is highly desired.Desired Qualifications:
Experience with IT infrastructure, application development, and operational projects.Background in business operations and efficiency improvements.Familiarity with IV&V methodologies, tools, and techniques.Knowledge of lean or agile strategies for process improvement.Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with clients and stakeholders.Training and/or certification in organizational change management.Location:
