IT R&D Hardware - Release Train Engineer Engineering Simulation

ASML IT has completed an Agile transformation based on SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) and is currently further optimizing the global operating model and processes.

Role and responsibilities

You are an excellent Release Train Engineer in an Agile/SAFe world with knowledge of Engineering processes (esp. Mechanical Engineering and Simulation). As a Release Train Engineer you are part of the ‘Leading Coalition’, together with the SA (System Architect) and the CPO (Chief Product Owner) of the Agile Release Train (ART) in the IT Support domain for Engineering Simulation. This ART consists of a group of agile teams. The ART is responsible for delivering all the  Engineering Simulation  services for the analysts community including Research, Development & Engineering and Customer support. You have an intrinsic drive towards continuous improvement.

As an RTE of the Engineering Simulation ART,  you will be responsible to lead the train from a people/process perspective while ensuring the performance of the ART.  

Ensuring timely delivery of committed PI objectives with features and enablers on the ART backlog and that existing services in scope of the ART are well maintained and updated.

Ensuring that impediments and incidents are solved by the ART or properly escalated. Provides insights and transparency on ART maturity, predictability, progress and secures quality of the value delivered.

Ensuring that the ART continuously improves and helps others in-and outside the ART.

Coordinating and Facilitating the ART rituals and contributes to cross ART alignments.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with teams across the train and challenging them to set and meet realistic objectives and commitments.

Orchestrating the teams and ensuring the overall performance and delivery capability of your ART.

Defining the required knowledge, capabilities and competences for the ART to support the full life cycle of its services in collaboration with the IT Group Leader.

Create transparency and alignment on ART status by setting-up, coordinating and facilitating ART ceremonies (like Inspect and Adapt, program increment planning events, scrum of scrums, ART Syncs etc.)

Monitoring the predictability and efficiency of the ART, the employee engagement of the team members and the satisfaction of its internal customers.

You drive productivity, disciplined delivery and operational excellence as much as security by design and learning

Ensuring  the continuous improvement mindset in the ART is fostered.

Managing risks and impediments together with the scrum masters of the different teams.

Managing the ART roadmap together with the chief product owner (CPO) and the system architect (SA).

Working with internal and external suppliers in different areas of interest to your team.

Education and experience

Academic working and thinking level. Candidate will have a degree in a Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or Industrial Engineering discipline.  You have sound knowledge of project management methodologies as well as agile development and DevOps based on the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) in a large environment.

Acting in a release train engineer role within IT Service Delivery for R&D Hardware you are part of a challenging ART of circa 30 people which requires a good mix between soft & hard skills and proven experience, having acted in relevant positions in similar, global companies. You are naturally able to communicate across multiple layers within an organization and can effectively deal with resistance from your (business) stakeholders. As we are working in a high-pressure environment, you are very well able to handle yourself (and your teams) in a similar environment. In this role you are tasked to bring Agile (servant) leadership to the table and are a strong coach who is able to influence without power in both your teams and towards your stakeholders.

Ideally you bring the following experience:

At least 3 years of experience building self-organizing teams;

Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

You have a proven experience in relevant environments, it is key to understand our processes and domain;

Experience with managing vendors and external personal as well as experienced in managing internationally distributed teams.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.).
