GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION 

Murphy USA is seeking a highly motivated and innovative **IT Software Engineering Intern** to join our dynamic IT team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications and internal tools that support Murphy USA’s business processes. 

Work alongside software engineers to contribute to coding, testing, and troubleshooting software features. 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance application functionality and improve user experience. 

Participate in software testing and debugging to ensure software quality and efficiency. 

Support the integration of new features and assist in the automation of workflows and processes. 

Develop scripts or tools to streamline processes, improve software performance, and ensure system reliability. 

Contribute to the documentation of software solutions and assist in maintaining technical documentation for future use. 

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing fresh ideas and insights to the team. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field. 

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and software development principles. 

Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar. 

Familiarity with databases and SQL. 

Experience with version control systems, preferably Git. 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality code. 

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. 

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn and contribute to meaningful projects. 

Previous internship or project experience in software development is a plus (not required). 

Experience with JavaScript frameworks like React, AngularJS, and familiarity with Azure Cloud is a plus. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Pursuing a degree in business or related area of study at an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
