IT Solutions Specialist - Compute and Storage Services

 

The Compute & Storage specialist (Identity) will report into the Compute & Storage Manager. The specialist will provide operational and project support of compute and storage, specifically around identity management, Active Directory, Role Based Access Control as well as the cloud equivalent technologies (Entra-ID) across our entire infrastructure ensuring both our cloud and on-premise environment is current and up to date. 

 

Key duties and responsibilities include:

 

Delivers a highly efficient, effective and available services to the business according to agreed business requirements and service levels within specialist areas of expertise, including but not limited to;Active Directory administrationEntra-ID administrationAzure platform administration specifically around conditional accessGroup policy administrationAzure policy administrationServer Operating systemsProvide Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, Event Management, Monitoring and Request Fulfilment capabilities within the Infrastructure Team.Management of all relevant documentation including Global and local network diagrams, technical documentation, high-level and low-level solution design documents, Knowledge documents, procedure documents, change control, test plans and transition plans.Provides technical expertise to support the correct application of operational proceduresContinuous Service Improvement – Benchmarking, performance monitoring ensuring that all infrastructure and services are configured/managed to optimum levels.Acts as 4th Level escalation point of contact with regards to Change, problems and incidents and see them through to resolution, managing suppliers where required.Assists with the configuration management and auditing of all infrastructure Services.Produce detailed documentation and conduct knowledge transition to other teams as requiredActs as SME as part of project team for IT project delivery.Provides solution and architecture solution designs.

 

Accountabilities:

Perform effective Incident, problem and change management functions with regards to assigned servicesPerforms day-to-day activities and checks as part of the on-going maintenance of the assigned services and that they are carried out in a timely manner as well as ensuring that a forward schedule of maintenance and upgrades are implementedEscalation into suppliers as and when requiredMaintains and manages full lifecycle for compute and storage components both physical and cloudPerforms auditing of Infrastructure both physical & cloudDelivery of end to end delivery of technical change. This could be in the form of Projects, Continuous Service Improvements, Enhancements, Implementations and Technical refreshesEnsure that effective system performance/capacity monitoring for all compute and storage servicesParticipate in/host post implementation/major incident reviews

Candidate Specification:

 

Essential:

In-depth understanding of Active Directory, DFS, GPO, DNS and replication topologiesIn-depth understanding of Entra-ID, conditional access, dynamic groups, PIM and SSOIn-depth understanding of Windows Server 2019 & 2022Firm understanding of Role Based Access Control ideally using SaviyntPowerShell ScriptingFirm understanding of network technologies, IP v4/V6 / SubnettingSolid understanding of backup technologies and approachesExperience analysing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for technical issuesDemonstrable experience of building strong and productive relationships with key business customersAble to communicate up and down the management chain, providing the appropriate message to the audienceSupporting peers. Mentoring junior infrastructure engineers and contributing to a cohesive team 

 

Desirable:

Educated to degree level in a related technology or engineering field, or relevant industry experienceAzure Based CertificationOther relevant professional IT CertificationsExperience of working in a global organization
