The Information Technology Specialist provides technical assistance and service related to government owned computer hardware and software. The Specialist must be able to organize work efficiently, show initiative and be self-motivated. Written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are all required. The Specialist must be able to install and explain basic Microsoft Windows and software including word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, electronic mail and databases. Knowledge of computer configuration and setup, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting are required. This role sets priorities for responding to multiple support tickets in a timely manner. This role provides recommendations for purchases and software changes to the Manager, Business & Contracts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, configure and troubleshoot desktop or mobile systems, workstations and network issues in a heterogeneous environment. Test, repair and evaluate Information Architecture (IA) standard software, including operating system and IA standard hardware, commercial and Laboratory developed software for quality control and proper operation. Maintain passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment. Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database library of all supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Federal and state regulations, N2MIS policies and procedures regarding information security systems. Maintain and ensure accurate and updated content on the company’s internal webpage, division webpages and forms database. Regular office hours are required for this position. Evening and weekend work as necessary.QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience:
Work is performed onsite. Position is not remote US Citizen S. or B.A. in appropriate Computer Science discipline from an accredited institution, college/university or six (6) years relevant work experience in computer science or computer technology Currently have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Department of Energy (DOE) Q level security clearance Three (3) years of experience in a dynamic computer science field that supported troubleshooting, repair and installation of microcomputer hardware and software Demonstrated experience working in an Active Directory network environment consisting of multiple group policies, security groups, operating systems and numerous software applications Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining strict attention to detail and accuracy as well as confidentiality Demonstrated ability to recognize issues and quickly and correctly formulate solutions. Repair hardware and software components often under time constraints Knowledge of CSS, HTML, HTML5 and PHP Must possess advanced-level computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF software. Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to function as an effective team member while interfacing with company employees, management, and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) oversight Ability to obtain and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s licenseDesired Education and Experience (Considered a Plus):
Demonstrated experience in network administration and programming Demonstrated experience in Windows administration with desktops and servers Experience in Microsoft SharePoint, PerfectForms, and SQL databases Microsoft certification(s)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting while engaged with a computer terminal or phone. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. Must have the ability to perform computer activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; determining the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work. Moderate lifting up to fifty pounds may be required. Regular work hours are required with evening and weekend work occasionally.
