IT SPECIALIST (APPSW)
Summary You will serve as an Information technology Specialist (APPSW) in the FRCSE of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST. Responsibilities You will analyze new security authentication technologies (e.g., public key infrastructure certificates, secure cards, biometrics software) to provide security recommendations to management. You will advise system users on troubleshooting application software problems. You will ensure software quality and performance. You will develop program coding guidance to support system upgrades and interfaces. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12 Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. In addition to demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Designing software applications using various programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML, Microsoft Power Apps, and SQL Ensuring software quality and performance by writing and executing unit tests, integration tests, and performance tests Participating in agile software development practices, such as sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Working closely with various teams to identify software requirements, design, and implement solutions, and ensure software quality and performance. Understanding database operations and the ability to ensure database availability, performance, and security by implementing backup and recovery procedures, monitoring database performance, and implementing security measures. GS-13 Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. In addition to demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Designing, developing, and maintaining software applications using various programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML, Microsoft Power Apps, and SQL. Demonstrating experience with agile software development practices, such as sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Participating in code reviews and ensure code quality and maintainability and staying up to date with the latest software development methodologies, tools, and technologies. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior software developers. Collaborating with stakeholders, including technical leads, project managers, and subject matter experts, to gather software requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
