Summary THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT), Position Description Number D2525P01 and is part of the ND G6, National Guard. Responsibilities As an IT Specialist (CUSTSPT), you will be responsible for the delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and/or training, in response to customer requirements. Addresses problems; installs, configures, troubleshoots, and provides maintenance and training in response to customer requirements or inquiries (e.g., tiered-level customer support). Provides support and guidance on installing, and operating personal computers, peripheral equipment, and associated software. Receives requests for resolution of hardware or software problems that may require in-depth research. Updates hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications PCS STATEMENT: PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION COSTS WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION. MAX MILITARY GRADES: Officer (03) and Enlisted (E-9) QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must posses the experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant possess the required one year of specialized experience at the GS-7 grade level or civilian equivalent, which includes 1) scheduling the use of computer time for program processing; 2) collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing; 3) experience in at least one programming language; 4) interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow; 5) analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system; 6) planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; and 7) scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire. Refer to "How you will be Evaluated" section of this announcement. Education If you are using education as a substitution to qualify you must meet the below: At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. To receive credit for education, you must provide supporting documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.
