IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/NETWORK)

Responsibilities You will provide onsite customer support for IT equipment, software, systems, interfaces, and networks; including telephone services, Cable TV, Enterprise Land Mobile Radio (ELMR), and field-deployable systems such as audio and video setups. You will support base communications projects by attending planning meetings, conducting site visits, identifying resource requirements, and coordinating additional services to meet project objectives. You will collaborate with vendors to obtain quotes and participate in the procurement process with leadership. You will analyze and resolve user-reported issues by implementing standard solutions and corrective actions. Coordinate with IT customers and specialists for corrective actions and system improvements. You will follow established plans and policies to install, configure, troubleshoot IT systems, and provide basic guidance to ensure timely service and minimize downtime. Work closely with vendor technicians when necessary. You will assist in the planning, development, testing, and maintenance of network systems. Participate in identifying network requirements and implementing solutions to support customer needs. You will contribute to configuration management and help administer LAN/WAN environments by monitoring network performance, initiating corrective actions, and supporting the installation and upgrade of network equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-9: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) Performing information technology (IT) services in areas of network and desktop support; installing, testing, and evaluating systems; and troubleshooting desktop and cellular communication devices; 2) Facilitating computer installs by creating accounts and verifying location of hardware/software ordered; 3) Ensuring secure configuration of all systems to meet agency cyber requirements; and 4) Providing recommendations for software and hardware updates to include costs and resources necessary to execute. 5) Resolving hardware/ software interface and interoperability problems. 6) Conducting threat assessments, monitors, and uses defensive measures on the network to remediate unauthorized activities and responds to crisis or urgent situations within the pertinent domain. GS 7: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing IT issues by applying performance management/measurement methods, tools and techniques; 2) Evaluating maintenance plans and statements of work regarding contracting activities with Information Technology systems, hardware, software etc. 3) Assisting in the planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, standardization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. 4) Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. 5) Conducting threat assessments, monitors, and uses defensive measures on the network to remediate unauthorized activities and responds to crisis or urgent situations within the pertinent domain.6) Performing routine network configuration management functions. OR I have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. To qualify for the GS-07 I have successfully completed 1 full year (18 hours) of graduate level education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR I have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement (see job opportunity announcement for additional information) from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, and my education has equipped me with the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position as described in the job opportunity announcement. This position requires recurring lifting/carrying of moderately heavy items (44 pounds or less), such as computer equipment, computer related materials and office supplies for materials' transportation, receipt, stocking and issuing.
