Summary You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST of NAVSUP BUSINESS SYSTEMS CENTER. Responsibilities You will operate systems regularly involve working in classified and unclassified environments, both ashore and afloat. You will modify storage structures and mapping of databases, determining user roles, space requirements and data compression. You will develop and maintain security provisions to guard against unauthorized modifications, updates, copying or destruction of the database. You will research the capabilities of varies COTS packages to fill functional needs as they arise and participates in the final selection of the packages. You will provide technical advice concerning database structure, cost and benefits and researches and develops metrics to aid in data analysis. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Broad knowledge and skill applying in IT principles, methods and tools as well as the IT environment in order to analyze, and define data requirements, monitor and maintain DBMS and administer standards; 2) Comprehensive knowledge of the technical characteristics of hardware configurations, networks, operating system software, programming languages and techniques to envision and prevent problems; 3) Broad knowledge of NAVSUP, DON, and DOD policy and standards for ADP system design, development, and documentation; 4) Knowledge of the Navy Supply System and interfacing systems such as allowancing, procurement, financial, transportation and legacy systems; 5) Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to answer questions on processes, feasibility, or modifying processes.
