IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), Position Description Number D2179P01, D1533P01 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. Responsibilities As an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-09/11, you will administer the COMPUSEC Program and protects Information Technology (IT) assets against unauthorized, accidental, or deliberate modification, disclosure, and destruction of data. Utilizes knowledge of IT principles, methods and security regulations and policies to carry out established base-wide policy to administer the INFOSEC (also known as COMPUSEC) program. Conduct risk assessments to identify possible security violations by analyzing computer assets and establishing security requirements based on possible countermeasures to achieve an optimum level of security. Execute and analyze the effectiveness of computer security plans and enforces mandatory access control techniques such as trusted routers, bastion hosts, gateways, firewalls, or other methods of information systems protection. (1) Manage the COMSEC account for the Wing/Base and subordinate units. Ensure that the COMSEC Responsible Officer's (CRO's), Secure Telephone Unit (STUii!) Voice Responsible Officer's (SRO's) (SVRO's), and FORTEZZA Responsible Officers (FRO's), comply with Air Force, National Guard, state, Federal laws and applicable regulations. Act as the sole point of contact to the wing commander concerning the Wing COMSEC posture. Provide guidance to unit commanders, CRO's, SRO's SVRO's, FRO's, and COMSEC users. Establish training programs for CRO's, SRO's, and SVRO's, FRO's and alternates. Report deviations from established COMSEC and Security guidelines to higher headquarters. Assure semi-annual functional reviews of all COMSEC users' accounts are performed. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-2 though E-7 Compatible Military Assignments: 1D7X1Q GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have 3 years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4, that demonstrates the ability to: Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; Plan and organize work; and Communicate effectively orally and in writing. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS 09: Must have experience that demonstrated knowledge of computer requirements and techniques in carrying out project assignments consisting of several related tasks, such as typically is the case in development of minor modifications to parts of a system on the basis of detailed specifications provided? The assignments must have shown completion of the following, or the equivalent: Analysis of the interrelationships of pertinent components of the system; Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment; and Personal responsibility for at least a segment of the overall project. GS 11: Must have experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques. For example, assignments would show, on the basis of general design criteria provided, experience in developing modifications to parts of a system that required significant revisions in the logic or techniques used in the original development? Accomplishments, in addition to those noted for the GS-9 level, normally involve the following, or the equivalent: Knowledge of the customary approaches, techniques, and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; and Adaptation of guidelines or precedents to the needs of the assignment Education Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown in the table meets the requirements for positions at GS-7 through GS-11. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified below: GS 09: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree Or LL.B. or J.D., if related GS 11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related Additional Information If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency (https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfRegistration.aspx).
