IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)
Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation utilizing the DHA for Information Technology Management (INFOSEC) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) for TRAC providing network/computer security and risk management planning, strategic planning, management and technical support for the certification of networks, systems, applications, and associated computer hardware/software resources. Responsibilities Serves as an information system/network security analyst supporting the TRAC Information Assurance Program. Identifies cyber threat information and supporting Information Assurance certification, accreditation and security issues. Organizes and coordinates the implementation of information processing standards related to system security/Information Assurance for geographically dispersed locations. Responsible for the system design, security, configuration, operation, maintenance and installation of firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, vulnerability scans, Virtual Private Network (VPN), and network security assessments. Provides information assurance/information system security for networks comprised of data communication and computing devices (i.e., gateways, routers, terminal servers, modems, encryption devices and other INFOSEC products). IT related Experience: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE 02 pay band or equivalent (GS 11) grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1 ) monitoring information assurance/computer network defense readiness and 2) analyzing results from information assurance assessments/scanning tools to secure information technology networks. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information This position is covered by a Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project.
