The primary purpose of this position is to Function as directorate's Cybersecurity technical advisor. Manages a large and complex organization-wide portfolio of cyber system authorizations enabling continued digital transformation and laboratory operations. Responsibilities Oversees and supports Cybersecurity of AFRL systems including associated policies, procedures, system designs, authorization documentation, and usage. Develops directives to implement DoD and DAF policy actions related to computer security. Participates in strategic and tactical planning for Cybersecurity initiatives and policies at DoD, DAF, MAJCOM, and Laboratory levels. Ensures internal projects and plans adhere to network security requirements. Manages the application of system Assessment and Authorization standardization for technology. Monitors contractor-provided services for Cybersecurity efforts and ensures compliance with contract terms. Reviews and evaluates Cybersecurity alternatives to determine courses of action based on technical implications, program objectives, and protection requirements. Makes recommendations to support and strengthen Cybersecurity on networks, enclaves, and stand-alone systems. Provides planning and technical guidance on various Cybersecurity areas including support costs associated with initiating new projects. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A). BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have or will have within 120 days of closing this announcement at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade DO-01/ GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience which is experience in overseeing cybersecurity programs or portfolio of system authorization projects; experience coordinating with higher-headquarter organizations to obtain cyber system authorization flexibilities; experience coordinating blended contractor and government personnel teams on system authorization projects.
