IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK)
Summary You will serve as an IT Specialist (NETWORK) in the Information Systems Department (N6) ofCOMNAVREG SE JAX. Responsibilities You will provide maintenance, expansion, troubleshooting, administration, design, and life-cycle upgrades on the Cisco Network. You will support system administration and connectivity for servers, workstations and supporting data communications architecture. You will examine the network workstations to ensure user access to file servers. You will establish test criteria and data to ensure all program modules and outputs for assigned projects are tested for completeness and accuracy. You will develop and maintain local procedures of networks, system operations and product assembly and installation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: ability to review data from multiple sources and determine relevant information to a given situation; drafting, editing and disseminating written reports and status updates that are factual, timely and relatively error free 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents; researching, evaluating, and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: communicating complex technical requirements to technical and non-technical personnel; relaying Information Assurance and IT security requirements to personnel 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: troubleshooting and resolving IT information security and assurance problems; mitigating risks to acceptable levels; and initiating protective and corrective measures if security issues are discovered. Additionally, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing Cisco software and hardware to maintain Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN); 2) Utilizing systems analysis and design techniques, such as data and process modeling; alternative design approaches; configuration management; and computer equipment requirements as related to networks and telecommunications to support customer needs; and 3) Conducting Risk Assessments and Security Test and Evaluation to identify vulnerabilities and potential violations. This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (441 Network Operations Specialist), proficiency level (BASIC) the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies. Maybe required to work evenings, nights and weekends. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
